Western Tatras (Západné Tatry)


Location


Western Tatras (Západné Tatry) is mountain range in North Slovakia, in Region Žilina (Žilinský kraj) - district Liptovský Mikuláš.


Area


The area of mountains is  380 km2 (286 km2 in Slovakia and 94 km2 in Poland).

Division of Western Tatras


From a geomorphological point of view Western Tatras (Západné Tatry) as a geomorphological sub-whole is part of whole Tatras (Tatry). Sub-whole Western Tatras (Západné Tatry) is divided into parts: Červené vrchy, Liptov Tatras (Liptovské Tatry), Liptovské kopy, Osobitá, Roháče, Sivý vrch.
