Mansions and Palaces in Slovakia

Budmerice manor house was built in 1889 by the count Ján Pálfi (1857-1934) with his young wife, Elizabeth Schlippenbach. The author of the project was the Viennese architect Franz von Neumann. The manor house is surrounded by an English park, which origin is related to the construction of a manor house: its task was to create a suitable scenery for the building and at the same time to ensure the privacy of count's family.
During the tour, visitors can see several rooms furnished with exhibits that were previously part of the Home of Slovak Writers, as well as collections from the Slovak National Museum - Red Stone Museum. In both cases they are exhibits coming from abandoned and nationalized noble settlements after the Second World War - none of the exhibits belong to the original facility of the castle before year 1945.
