Branisko is a mountain range in eastern Slovakia in Region Presov (Prešovský kraj) (districts Levoča, Prešov, Sabinov) and Region Košice (Košický kraj) (districts Spišská Nová Ves, Gelnica). It is approx. 20 km long and 5 km wide mountain range in the north-south direction. Highest peak is Smrekovica with altitude 1 200 m. The mountain range is divided into two parts - subareas by Branisko saddle: the north and more massive Smrekovica with the highest peak Smrekovica (1 200 m) and the lower one, the Sľubica, with the highest point Sľubica (1 129,4 m).
From a geomorphological point of view Branisko (mountain range) as a geomorphological whole is part of area Fatra-Tatra (Fatransko-tatranská oblasť) : System: Alpine-Himalayan system -> Subsystem: Carpathians (Karpaty) -> Province: West Carpathians (Západné Karpaty) -> Subprovince: Inner West Carpathians (Vnútorné Západné Karpaty) -> Area: Fatra-Tatra Area (Fatransko-tatranská oblasť). Whole Branisko (mountain range) is divided into subwholes: Sľubica, Smrekovica.
